In-depth look at a Deluxe Sea View Room and walk-around at The COAST (formerly known as Sensimar), Koh Samui, Thailand. Surprisingly nice and clean resort at the east side of Maenam Beach (also spelled Mae Nam) in the north of Samui.

What was good?

Everything was very good, clean and modern. The room had a fresh style and sea view facing Koh Phangan. Nice bed – a proper bed type, not a rock-solid madrass as you see in most resorts. Staff was professional and kind. It’s not a new resort but I must say they keep it in a very, very good shape. Nothing wash out of order and everything thoroughly cleaned. Even saw a guy cleaning the hallways outside our room in the middle of the night. The resort is pretty tightly built but the plants and gardens in between looked very pretty. The fitness room was big, fresh and often empty. It’s an adult only (16+) resort so it’s nice and calm overall compared to family resorts. Made a long stroll of Maenam Beach in the morning and it’s nice and has a lot less people compared to Chaweng and such beaches. The food in the restaurant was tasty and we had some great cocktails at The Lounge. Can’t comment on the breakfast as I didn’t have time to try it but I’m sure it’s good enough. I don’t celebrate my own birthdays anymore but the staff surprised me with a bottle of Italian Prosecco and a cake – I had to celebrate that, thank you very mak The COAST! BTW, there is also a The COAST resort in Koh Phangan.

What was not so good?

If you need to visit 7-eleven or Family Mart you’ll have to walk a while to and across the busy main road. I personally don’t like the huge prison wall by the pool, it provides some nice shade in the afternoon but it felt like it needed some greenish climbing plants.
