Deluxe Ocean View King Room and walkaround at Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort, Pattaya Thailand. Very impressive big temple-style waterpark resort at Wong Amat Beach. While this resort is obviously aiming more for families I really enjoyed a short stay here as a semi-solo traveller. Overall very pleased with this place.
What was good?
The location is in the north, nicely tucked away from the worst parts of Pattaya. Terminal21 and Central Marina are just a few minutes with taxi away. Wong Amat Beach looks nice and they keep it clean. The whole structure is built like a huge tiger-elephant-water-sprinkling jungle temple. Very nicely done with lush plants, palm trees and rippling water all over. Staff was great, professional and genuinely welcoming. The Deluxe Ocean View King Room was very nice and clean. Jacuzzi and shower, great view and sunset. Comfy bed – with a pillow menu! Lots of restaurants to choose from inside the resort. Didn’t have time to try em all but the food I had was overall good. The area between the main building and the beach is a solid water park labyrint. It all looks very cool. There is also a lap pool, spa, tennis court, fitness room, arcade style play-room, conference center and wedding type areas. Some parts was under construction or renovation as well so it can only get better. This has got to be the most family-friendly place in Pattaya and also one of the best resorts in Thailand if you are traveling with kids. A pricey resort perhaps, but you basically get a family ticket to a waterpark included, so it’s actually a pretty good deal. As for myself I had a spare day in Pattaya before leaving to Samui, so I used some Agoda-cash for a free night here to visit Wong Amat Beach, great value 😎👍🏻.
What was not so good?
Nothing really bad about this resort at all but some parts of the room perhaps looked a bit out of date. Like, who use DVD’s nowadays? The TV had smart functions but no YouTube like I’ve seen in other Centara-branded hotels like Cosi. Up on check-in there was A LOT of people so I had to cue for a pretty long time before getting my room. The roads between the central Pattaya and the resort are darkish if you prefer to walk back from the city at night. If you travel in couple or solo and have a problem with screaming kids this resort is probably not for you.
